The Inner Silence Retreat In India 2027

February 3 – 16 (14 days)

A deeply inward retreat with daily yoga, meditation, and contemplative practices that support clarity, balance, and self understanding. This journey is designed for those who wish to step back from the pace of daily life and reconnect with a quieter inner space.

Through daily practices and periods of silence, we explore the deeper architecture of human experience: body, breath, mind, and awareness.

This retreat takes place in a calm and natural setting away from crowds and distractions. The environment itself supports stillness, reflection, and gentle inner work.

During these two weeks, Govind personally guides the group with care and attentiveness, supporting each participant to move at their own pace within a structured yet spacious framework.

Retreat Stories from India

Note: The feedbacks shared here are from our ‘Spiritual and Cultural Retreat in India’. While the Inner Silence Retreat is more inward focused, these reflections give a true feeling of the experience and guidance offered.

At the heart of the retreat

This retreat gently explores the wisdom of the five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space.

Ancient yogic understanding describes that both nature and the human system are composed of these elements. When they are in balance, we experience steadiness, vitality, and emotional clarity. When disturbed, we may feel restlessness, heaviness, or inner friction.

A major part of this journey is the mindful exploration of the chakras, the inner energy centers described in the yogic tradition. Rather than approaching them as abstract concepts, we work with them in a practical and experiential way through yoga, breath, meditation, and self reflection.

Visit as a guest, not as a tourist

Get inspired from the direct touch! Govind invites you to “his India” – in his home country and to the mountain Arunachala where Govind has been meditating since he was a teenager. This opens an opportunity for you to learn from the inside of an ancient, rich and unique culture. Together, we cross the usual tourist border lines and make you feel as a participant rather than a spectator. All guest teachers – including swamis and other radiating personalities – are people Govind is personally connected to. The places Govind takes you to are places that inspire him the most whether it’s an amazing temple or a poor farmer in his hut. They all have stories to tell. In each step, you are personally guided by Govind.

The Space You Will Stay In

The retreat takes place in a quiet, natural setting away from crowds and constant stimulation. The surroundings are simple and down to earth, supporting a slower rhythm and a more inward focus. To get a feel for the retreat setting, watch this video – Click here

Accommodation, Food & Transportation

Tiruvannamalai

Tiruvannamalai, located in Tamil Nadu, India, is a renowned spiritual destination centered around the holy mountain Arunachala. This sacred mountain, believed to be a manifestation of a Hindu God, attracts seekers from around the world for its ancient meditation caves, vibrant ashrams, and profound spiritual vibrations. Arunachala is known for its ability to facilitate deep meditation and spiritual awakening.

We will be staying in a very calm and quiet retreat environment away from crowds and city life. The setting is simple and down to earth, created to support inward focus rather than comfort luxury.

  • Single rooms, double rooms, and cottages available
  • Room sizes vary and may be relatively small
  • Some rooms are in a larger shared building, while others are in smaller individual buildings, including cottages
  • Some rooms and cottages have Western toilets and some have Indian toilets
  • Additional Western toilets are available in common areas
  • Bucket shower in all rooms
  • Hot water available in some rooms and at common points
  • Mosquito nets on windows and doors, and over all beds
  • Laundry can be arranged locally for a small tip

Room preference:
Participants may share their preference for single, double, or cottage, and toilet type. Allocation is generally on a first come basis. We will do our best to consider preferences, but this cannot be guaranteed.

We will be having our meals in the retreat place and in restaurants and other homely village food places. In all our retreats we arrange Indian vegetarian food which is freshly prepared with local ingredients. We eat most meals together but it is also possible to eat a few by your self, if you like.

Some of the dishes are authentic traditional Indian food. If you have food limitations or are sensitive to spicy food you need to contact us to discuss your situation when you register. In order to make the best out of the time, we pre-select a variation of good dishes for the group meals since it is extremely time consuming if each person order different food in the rural areas of India. So, be flexible to eat “what is on the table” and we promise you that it will be good, healthy vegetarian food!

We will make sure you get freshly cooked, healthy, Indian vegetarian food.

Testimonials & Videos of Previous Retreats

Tiruvannamalai and especially the mountain Arunachala is a very special, sacred place, very vibrant and to me I can feel it especially when I meditate here, I fall into meditation quite peacefully and I really feel that this vibrant place, I can take it home with me and use it in my meditation back at home.

You may think that retreats are only for younger people, but I can say for one, being 66, it’s also possible for you to go on a retreat like this. You come here with a retreat group and our group is a fantastic group, we care about each other and a certain kind of love and a feeling as one has entered us all. That’s probably what I have learned from this retreat, that we are all one.

    Per Aachamann

This was my third time joining Govind’s retreat. In joining it was my intention to reignite my daily yoga practice and get time in the beautiful energies of Tiruvannamalai to recharge and reconnect. Govind taught about ayurveda, which asanas to do to balance the doshas, which mantras to use to transform energy and deeper knowledge which really makes you contemplate about life and what is important.

    Heather Palen

The biggest reward for me in this retreat is that I gained confident in my own spiritual practice. Anna Marie and Govind, You love your spiritual practice – and I open my heart and gain confidence in you in yoga and in meditation.

Being thought yoga, pranayama and meditation the traditional yogic way, and the opportunity to meet and have satsang with authentic Yogis, Swamis and Vedic priest is a rare luxury. A gold mine for spiritual seekers.

The spiritual atmosphere of the mountain of Arunachala was definitely the biggest experience for me. Arunachala is a great place to be, one of the finest and most spiritual places in India. It has a special atmosphere that promotes mindfulness.
