- Hike up the mountain and reach the meditation caves and spend time in the stroing spiritual energy that made Ramana Maharshi and other masters spend years of meditation in the very same place.
- Explore India: visit the markets, the different restaurents, enjoy a chai with the locals and visit the amazing grand Tiruvannamalai Temple in the city.
Introduction to the area
In order for you to get the most out of your days you will get an introduction to the area and a brief introduction to Hindu temple traditions and rituals in the beginning of the retreat. We help you get to know the good dining places: restaurants, Govind’s local favorite home kitchen, roof top cafés, shopping area, tailors, clothes and spiritual book shops, where to find good guides, taxis and travel service in case you like to make plans of your own after YMS.
The price includes

- An introduction to "the ashram area" of Tiruvannamalai.
- Individual session with Govind.

Arunai Anatha – our base
The base is the resort Arunai Anantha. It is located by the foot of the holy mountain Arunachala away from the traffic noise and crowds of the small roads in the ashram area in Tiruvannamalai. You are one minute away from the pilgrimage route with the many small temples around the mountain Arunachala and five minutes by Autorickshaw (tuc-tuc) from the Ramana Ashram and the “ashram area” with ashrams, vegetarian cafés, spiritual bookshops and other small shops.
Accommodation & food
You stay in a double or single room in the resort Arunai Anantha: Besides having nice and comfortable rooms, Arunai Anantha serves nice Indian food in their garden restaurant and have a lovely outdoor yoga shala for our classes. In the afternoons, when the peak temperature will be around 27 - 30 degrees, you can enjoy the swimming pool or drink a cooling fresh juice on the terrace while digesting the inputs of the day. The morning buffet included in the price contains a broad selection of both Indian and continental vegetarian breakfast. Lunch and dinner is not included in the YMS Days but you will be introduced to different good restaurents in case you like to explore eating outside the resort. Expect to spend 60 – 300 rupees (6-29 DKK / 1-4 EURO) per meal for local Indian food and a little more per meal when dining in the “more western dining places”.
Each person will have a 45 minutes’ individual session with Govind during the retreat. This session is included in the payment.
Extend your experience
We highly recommend you to extend your stay and get more out of your time in India. If you stay longer, you can join Govind’s Open Satsangs in Tiru. The satsangs are on donations basis and are open to all. You will have to plan and book your extra days by your own.
Here are some options to consider:
Arrive in Arunai Anantha before YMS and get time to settle in and explore the area on your own before tuning into Govind’s sessions: make your bookings online here and inform that you participate in Santhi Yoga YMS Days.
Extend your stay after the retreat: Arunai Anantha is fully booked from January 8th but on tripadvisor you find different options for hotels. The hotels Akash Inn and Ramana Towers have clean, nice rooms placed in the center of the “ashram area”.
You can also rent a room in private houses or hostels: Find a room during your stay: we can put you into contact with people who will help you find a room (ranging from 500 – 1500 Rs (47 -143 DKK /6-19 EURO) depending on the standard and location you choose) during YMS Days. Book a room in advance: we recommend using Airbnb.
Bring your partner, friend or family members
Unlike our other spiritual retreats, YMS Days is open for you to have company of persons who do not participate in the YMS Days. You will have all day after the satsang to spend with them and they have time to explore the spiritual area, the nature etc. while you take time for yourself and the group. If you like to bring children, we may have the option for arranging activities for children during some of the YMS Days. Contact us more details.
